A Leopard for Your Couch

Some of us just want to bring a little bit of the wild into our homes. There was a time when the only spotted domestic cat available was the Egyptian Mau. Some very enterprising souls decided to see if it were possible to combine the amazing personality and extroverted nature of the Mau with the wild look of the Asian Leopard Cat as well as the African Serval.

This resulted in two new hybrid breeds: the Bengal Cat, and the Savannah Cat.

Bengals have the large, open rosettes with their dark circles surrounded by a slightly lighter center. Bengal heads are round, teddy-bear like, hypoallergenic pelts soft like bunny fur. Their fur has hollow shafts, and they glow in the sunlight, just like fiber-optics do! We call this “glitter”.

The Savannahs have solid pin-prick spots, wedge-shaped heads, unusually large ears, and a slender build. Completely different looks, but both give a shudder of thrill when you see their wildness!

These are not your grandma’s kitty cats! Our exotic hybrid kitties do not run and hide when company comes over, they come to the door and greet them, tail held high! They don’t avoid a new human, they reach out and connect!

Resilient, sensitive, and intelligent, they are ready to learn and willing to be trained.

We like to call them cats for dog people!

Our Bengal cats come in a wide variety of colors: red, charcoal, brown, snow, sepia. They are a rainbow of variety!

Our Savannahs look more like one another, all of them slightly different shades of gold. Their ears are enormous, very distinct “eye spots” on the back of their ears, and they are some of the most slender cats you will ever see! They love nibbling hair and sniffing armpits. They get this behavior from their Serval ancestors, as we have seen for ourselves that Servals do the same thing!

One of the reasons our cats are so resilient, confident, and intelligent, is because we have a protocol with all kittens starting on day 3 of Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS). This ENS therapy gently introduces them to a variety of kinds of stimulation and body-positioning. ENS helps them to be fearless in the face of new experiences, able to handle anything and remain chill and in full possession of themselves.

These kittens grow up to be “touch me anywhere” cats. Our special training beyond ENS teaches them to have excellent manners around their sharp parts, learning to keep their teeth and claws out of human flesh. They keep their rough housing for their fellow fur friends! More purrs and cuddles for their humans.
